sunflower blanket (update 1)

i've been working on this blanket for a few months already - i actually made the first square on new years eve so this is very much a 2026 blanket. i haven't been working on it consistantly since then as i've been working on other projects in the meantime. the rate this is going i could be working on this for a few more months yet, although i initially wanted to have it done by the summer.
i definatly made my life a lot harder by using different patterns in the same blanket. they don't line up well together which leads to gaps i have to fill in, but i've been having a lot of fun working on this so far!
i'm making it the same size as a standard single duvet. no idea how much yarn this will take or how many squares total i'll have to use, honestly i'm just winging this entire thing. i know myself very well by now - if i plan this out too much i'll lose intrest in the whole project and all my work will go to waste. this blanket will be far from perfect, but at least it will be a blanket.
as you can see i still have a LOT of ends to weave in. i hate tidying up the tails. so much. i'm trying to do it as i go but i don't have that much self decipline.
the yarn i'm using is king coles dk cottonsoft. i've been using this yarn for other projects for months at this point as it's the nicest (and most accessible to me) 100% cotton yarn i've come across so far. i love it!
once its completed the current plan is to do a boarder of brown around the edge (either one or two rows) and then do a simple lace pattern around that. i think it could look pretty cute.
